Officially Licensed Mirkwood™ Elven Necklace - Emeralds of Girion™
Inspired by The Hobbit™ and The Lord of the Rings™, the immortal works by J.R.R. Tolkien, each Mirkwood™ Elven Necklace is individually handcrafted in Sterling Silver by the Badali Jewelry artists. The Emeralds of Girion™ necklace is an officially licensed The Hobbit pendant with Middle-earth Enterprises.
The Emeralds of Girion was a necklace belonging to Girion, the last Lord of Dale™. The necklace was given as payment for a coat of mail armor made by the Dwarves of Erebor™. The necklace was described as being "made of five hundred emeralds green as grass". The necklace was one of the fabulous treasures discovered in Smaug™ the dragon's hoard. At the end of the Battle of Five Armies™, Thranduil™, the Elvenking of Mirkwood, was given The Emeralds of Girion by Bard the Bowman™ in gratitude for his assistance.
The Mirkwood Elven Necklace is one design in a series of jewelry that feature the brilliant emeralds (cubic zirconia) that were set in Girion's necklace. The cz emerald is set in a pendant of silver beech leaves, the trees that J.R.R. Tolkien described as covering the great forest of Middle Earth™. These leaves were beloved by Elves and are also described as the leaves of Lothlorien™.
The Mirkwood Necklace is cast in solid sterling silver and is set with a 12 x 10 mm emerald green cubic zirconia. The elven pendant measures approximately 31.1 mm (1 1/4") long including bail, 22 mm (7/8") at the widest point and 6.2 mm (1/4") thick at the gemstone. The elven leaf necklace weighs approximately 5 grams. Each necklace is rhodium plated to prevent tarnishing.
Available with optional, officially licensed 24" Mithril™ rope chain. Mithril™ rope chain is skillfully crafted in gleaming titanium, feather light while extremely durable & invulnerable to tarnish.
